American soprano from the Metropolitan Opera to perform in Classic FM Radio orchestra’s Christmas concert

The program, titled White Christmas is to take place at Bulgaria Hall on December 18, as part of the Music of America concert series

American soprano Janinah Burnett is the featured soloist of Classic FM Radio orchestra’s Christmas concert. Only days before Christmas Eve, the singer who has been on the Metropolitan Opera roster for the last five years is making her Bulgarian debut in the concert titled White Christmas. She is to perform favorite European and American Christmas carols and spirituals. This concert is part of the Music of America series, presented by Cantus Firmus and America for Bulgaria Foundation. It is scheduled to take place at Bulgaria Hall on December 18 at 7:30PM.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Ms. Burnett joined the Metropolitan Opera roster in 2008 for their productions of Bizet’s Carmen and Puccini’s La Bohème. Other Metropolitan productions she has taken part in have included Wagner’s Parsifal, Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Puccini’s La Rondine, and Gluck’s Iphigenie en Tauride.
Noted engagements from the past two seasons have included performances at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, the Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos in Lisbon, and at the Spoleto Festival U.S.A. Ms. Burnett has also performed at the Michigan Opera Theatre, the Arizona Opera, the Nashville Opera, the Syracuse Opera, the Cleveland Opera, the New York City Opera, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Cape Town Opera, and at the Rishon LeZion Theatre in Israel, among many others.
White Christmas is to also feature the Classic FM Radio choir, with conductor Theodora Pavlovic, and the Pim-Pam children’s choir led by Boris Karadimchev. The concert will be conducted by young Bulgarian musician Sergei Pavlov, whose career has taken him in recent years to the US and Ecuador.
