Platform TANGUARDA is that rare place where extraordinary musicianship meets the irrepressible love for Tango, an ensemble of musicians with the power of dynamite which has become a symbol of uncompromising quality. In the impressively short period of time since TANGUARDA exists it has secured the special place on the musical scene as the top contemporary Tango project of today.
A line up of outstanding and versatile musicians, who form the all-star team of TANGUARDA is one of
the trademarks for which the ensemble is recognised.
The founder of the group is the pianist Maria Martinova, who is the nucleus of the project. Maria’s dream-to create a platform where contemporary Tango fuses the rebellious spirit of Tango nuevo with the exquisite qualities of the tradition-gives birth to this ambitious project. Having dared to combine international carrees in two different worlds-the one of classical music and the one of Tango-Maria has joined forces with some of the most exciting and inspiring musicians of today. In its present constellation TANGUARDA features as principal members Marcelo Nisinman, star of the bandoneón, an extraordinary instrumantalist and a composer, who continues the legacy of his mentor Ástor Piazzolla; violinist Daniel Rowland, who has enjoyed an early stellar rise to international renown as a soloist and a conductor, one of the most impressive figures in the violin world today; Winfried Holzenkamp-one of the most sought after bass players in Europe.
