HM the Queen of Spain Awards Victoria Vassilenko

The young pianist Victoria Vassilenko is to continue her education at the Queen Sofia Music Academy in Madrid, Spain. Her many achievements during the past academic year were marked by a special distinction. Last month, during a special ceremony she received the Most Promising Young Pianist Award, as a student of Prof. Dmitri Bashkirov. The award was presented by HM Sofia, Queen of Spain. The event took place at the El Prado Palace, which until 1885 was used as a summer residence of the Spanish Royal dynasty. Among the special guests at the ceremony were La infanta doña Margarita and her husband, Carlos Zurita, Duke of Soria, Spanish Minister of Education, Culture, and Sports, José Ignacio Wert, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Spain, Yuri Korchagin, and Albeniz Foundation President and Queen Sofia Music Academy Principal, Paloma O’Shea, among other high-ranking officials.

Victoria Vassilenko has performed as soloist of the Classic FM Radio Orchestra when she was still a high-school student at the Lyubomir Pipkov National Music School. This young pianist’s first major performance (with an orchestra) was under the baton of Vesko Panteleev-Eschkenazy.
