The world of video games comes to life in a Classic FM Radio Orchestra multimedia concert . “The World of Video Game Music” is part of the 8th season of the “Music of America” concert series, presented by Cantus Firmus and the America for Bulgaria Foundation. The program comprises memorable musical excerpts from gamers’ favorites such as World of Warcraft, Starcraft II, Overwatch, Uncharted 2, Diablo III, Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, Divinity: Original Sin 2, Prince of Persia, Call of Duty, and Lord of the Rings Online, among others. The selected pieces are diverse in character, following the best traditions of orchestral film music. All scores were composed for games created by the leading companies in this industry. All musical performances will be illustrated with visuals including games’ characters projected onto a big screen over the orchestra.
Conductor Amy Andersson is most recently known for her work as Music Director and Conductor of the Legend of Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses, currently leading this two year world tour to over ten countries. Appearances on Late Show with Stephen Colbert, CBS Morning news, CBS Evening News and press coverage in the Wall Street Journal have led to Music Critic Norman Lebrecht to call her “America’s most watched Symphony Orchestra Conductor.”
Neal Acree is BAFTA nominated film, television and video game composer whose work includes the massively popular game franchises Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Diablo, StarCraft, Revelation Online, shows like Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Witchblade as well as 30 feature films. A versatile and prolific composer with roots in classical, rock and electronic music, Acree’s music has been recorded and performed by orchestras and choirs around the world.
Film and video game composer Penka Kuneva is known as “an artist of uncommon talent” (NPR). She scored the games Prince of Persia and Transformers (with themes by Steve Jablonsky), The Mummy VR game, and the feature films Aga directed by Milko Lazarov (Berlin Film Festival’18), Encounter, and Devil’s Whisper (Sony Pictures). Penka also composed for the American Astronauts on a $30M NASA multimedia exhibit Heroes and Legends permanently housed at the Kennedy Space Center. Her orchestral albums The Woman Astronaut and Rebirth of Id were released by Universal Music to 5-star press. Her awards include Sundance Composer Fellow, Game Audio Network Guild’s Recognition Award, and a Duke University Distinguished Alumna.
Borislav Slavov is multiple award-winning video game Composer and Music Director. His career in the game industry starts in 2001 when his passion for games leads him to his first soundtrack production for the real-time strategy game „Knights of Honor”.
After the successful debut, he continues to work on game titles like: Two Worlds II, WorldShift (Composer) and Gothic 3 (featured musician). In 2009 Slavov joins Crytek, where he works until beginning of 2016 on the games CRYSIS 2, CRYSIS 3, Warface and RYSE: SON OF ROME as Composer and Music Director. In 2016 Slavov joins Larian Studios and scores the universally acclaimed role-playing game DIVINITY: ORIGINAL SIN 2 , which receives multiple awards upon release in 2017, including “Game of the Year Award 2017 of PCGamer”
