Classic FM’s listeners receive a Golden Quill award
24 representatives of Bulgarian culture and art receive prestigious awards
May 22, 2013, Sofia.
On the eve before one of Bulgaria’s most revered holidays, May 24, Classic FM Radio and Makta Gallery presented for the 18th consecutive year the Golden Quill Awards. For the first time in history, a symbolic 25th Golden Quill was awarded to Classic FM’s listeners. The recognition came as a result of the listeners’ active stand and strong support for the radio, which over the years has become a cultural institution, in its ongoing battle to receive its own FM frequency.
The Bulgarian cultural and art achievement awards were presented to their recipients in an official ceremony. Among the 18th Golden Quill award recipients are composers Boris Karadimchev and Haigashod Agasyan, writers Lyudmila Filipova and Georgi Gospodinov, conductors Eliyanka Mihailova and Yossif Gerdjikov, actors Leonid Yovchev and Georgi Kadurin, visual artists Vihroni Popnedelev and Borislav Stoev, the Varna Summer Festival, and the Sofia Science Festival, among others. The Classic FM Radio listeners gave the most votes to the Sofia Boys’ Choir, under Dr. Adriana Blagoeva, who accepted the award.
