First concert of Maestro Ennio Morricone in Sofia with Bulgarian ochestra and choir

Legendary Italian composer and conductor Ennio Morricone will mark his first visit to Bulgaria by conducting Classic FM’s orchestra and choir, which will perform several of Morricone’s best known compositions. Some 185 Bulgarian musicians, as well as a band from Italy, will participate in the December 10, 2013

performance, organized by Event Zone.

“I am very happy,” Morricone says of the upcoming concert.

Ennio Morricone composed scores for over 20 award-winning films, in addition to several symphonic and choral arrangements, some of which will be performed in Sofia. Among them are melodies from movies “A fistful of dollars” (1964), “The good, the bad and the ugly” (1966), “Once upon a time in America”(1983), “The Untouchables”(1987), and“Malèna” (2000).

Created in 2002, Classic FM orchestra has performed in several concert cycles, including “The Concertmasters” and “The Music of America,” which celebrated movie music. Its choir has been performing since 2005 as part of a joint project between Classic FM radio and “Vassil Arnaoudov” Sofia Chamber Choir.

The concert will also feature the performance of six Italian musicians – soprano Susanna Rigacci, Gilda Buttà on the piano; Nanni Civitenga, electric bass; Massimo D’Agostino, drums; Leandro Piccioni, keyboard; and Rocco Zifarelli, electric guitar.
