Cantus Firmus and the America for Bulgaria Foundation are pleased to announce the fourth season of The Music of America series. This season features six concerts presented by the Classic FM Radio Orchestra. The star of the season is American virtuoso violinist Pinchas Zukerman, who will appear for the first time in Bulgaria as soloist and conductor in February 2014. Maestro Zukerman will be joined on stage by his wife, celebrated cellist Amanda Forsyth. The couple captivated the Bulgarian audience when they first appeared in this country in 2006.
By tradition, The Music of America series will open with a concert of film music. The special guest of the concert on 18 October 2013 is American conductor Francisco Noya, who will offer music from the soundtracks of Forrest Gump, Spiderman, Jurassic Park, The Lord of the Rings, Arizona Dream, The Simpsons, and Captain America. At the end of 2013, the musicians from the Classic FM Radio Orchestra will invite music lovers to a Christmas concert featuring American soprano Janinah Burnett, the Classic FM Radio Choir and the PIM-PAM Children’s Choir. In February 2014 the audience will be treated to music from blockbuster musicals Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aladdin, and Snow White, among others. This season also features violinist Vadim Gluzman, winner of the prestigious Henryk Szeryng Foundation Career Award, as well as Bulgarian musicians Angel Zaberski, Vasil Petrov and Mihail Yossifov who will present their Symphony-Jazz Project, a collection of all-time American jazz standards arranged by Angel Zaberski.
