Bulgarian pop stars, actors, classical musicians mark anniversary of Boris Karadimchev

Dedicated to the composer’s 80-th birthday, the concert with the Classic FM Radio Orchestra is to take place on November 15

October 22, 2013, Sofia
A myriad of popular Bulgarian singers, actors, and classical musicians will gather in a jubilee concert event, dedicated to the 80th birthday of composer Boris Karadimchev. His timeless songs, White Silence (Byala Tishina), People and Streets (Hora i ulitsi), We Stay Behind (Ostavame), Wealth (Bogatstvo), and Sleepless (Bezsunie), among others, will come to life through the voices of Margatita Hranova, Orlin Goranov, Mimi Ivanova, Vassil Petrov, Orlin Pavlov, and Nasko from B.T.R. The concert will also include top actors Georgi Mamalev and Hristo Garbov, who will present colorful interpretations of several Karadimchev songs. The event will be hosted by Georgi Mamalev.
Along with songs dear to several generations, a few of the composer’s instrumental works will be performed by pianist Georgii Cherkin and violinist Kalina Hinova. A lesser known fact is that Karadimchev’s first opus was not a song, but an instrumental piece, titled Six Musical Paintings for Violin and Orchestra. This work will be performed by Angel Stankov as soloist. The concert will take place at Bulgaria Hall on November 15, 2013 at 7:30PM, and will include the Classic FM Radio Orchestra under conductor Grigor Palikarov, and the PIM-PAM Children’s Choir. This concert is part of The Concertmasters series, presented by Cantus Firmus, and is organized with the support of Bulgaria’s Ministry of Cultrure, the Municipality of Sofia, the Bulgarian Composers’ Union, Dr. Peter Beron 1925 Community Center, and Musicautor company.
